This table allows you to change the value of one soil physical property (e.g., bulk density) and see how the value of other properties will also change (e.g., porosity, volumetric water content, air-filled porosity, etc.). If you try to enter an invalid value for any property (e.g., porosity > 1.0) you will be alerted to the error and the table values will be reset to the original values. If you enter a value that exceeds reasonable values for soils (e.g., bulk density > 1.9 Mg/m3) the calculations will continue but you will be alerted to the fact that the values are not reasonable for soils and the column heading for that property will be turned red as a reminder. Click on the Reset Table Values button to remove the colored headings. If a value entered for one property causes another value to either exceed theoretical limits (e.g., vol water content > porosity => relative saturation > 1.0) or reasonable values for soils (e.g., mass water content > 0.60) the calculations will continue but you will be alerted to this fact and the column heading for that property will be turned red as a reminder. Click on the Reset Table Values button to remove the colored headings. Values are rounded to 3 or 4 significant digits.

A red column heading indicates that the values calculated for that Physical Property are unreasonable for soils. The calculation was the result of an unreasonably high or low value for some other parameter. Reset Table Values to clear color.
